We would like to thank you for considering to donate some of your precious time with us.  If you decide to participate on one of our Volunteer Teams,  you will not be sorry!   THP volunteers will not only be able to enjoy one of the most peaceful sites on earth but most likely it will be one of the most rewarding things you will ever do.

Key elements of any highly successful program are usually their volunteers.  With that being said our philosophy at THP will be to maintain a high level of standards with all of our staff.  Those standards are clear in the Volunteer Handbook and include safety, accountability, work ethic, morals/values, love of animals/people and the will to help others are essential to THP’s success.  Again, THP will be able to grow into a sustainable position without an active cast of volunteers and that is why our program is so specific on communicating each category of volunteerism so they volunteers know what they are committing to.

Our volunteers are responsible for assisting our participants to take care of horses, maintain the barn, maintain our beautiful grounds, photograph special events, raise funds for important programs, and serve on the Board of Directors.  Without the collective effort and skills of these dedicated and hardworking individuals, THP would simply not exist.  We are grateful to all who give THP their time, energy, and talent.

THP welcomes your skills, experience, and interests to all of our volunteer opportunities. Once, you have completed the Volunteer Responsibilities and Requirements Checklist (see next page)) and have been accepted as a qualified volunteer, you will then have a better perspective where you see yourself being placed in the program to make your volunteer experience at THP as fulfilling as possible.  Our volunteers serve many purposes so please look over the Volunteer Teams (below) to find your niche.

Barn Team volunteers assist with horse morning and afternoon feedings, supplements, barn chores, including filling water buckets, cleaning stalls, and sweeping barn aisles. Barn Team Volunteers are responsible for keeping the horses’ living quarters clean and orderly.  Barn Team Volunteers have limited interaction with directly with horses. Horse Care Volunteers ensure that our horses are happy, healthy and ready for lessons. Horse Care Volunteers also participates in all aspects of daily horse care, such as grooming, tacking and putting the horse away after a lesson.

The majority of volunteers at THP participate in lessons and horse care.  Lessons are held two days a week, four hours per day and horse care take place twice a day.  Lessons run April - Oct. and on limited weekends.
